IV #WholesaleSpain Forum – Beyond Connectivity
On 27 October, we held the fourth edition of the #WholesaleSpain Forum in Madrid, organised by Onivia in collaboration with Nae. Under the theme “Beyond Connectivity: From Fibre Leadership to New Growth Models”, the event once again brought together industry representatives to reflect on the challenges and opportunities facing the Spanish telecommunications market.
Spain has established itself as an international benchmark in fibre optics thanks to an ecosystem characterised by investment, specialisation and collaboration among operators. A model in which neutral wholesale networks have played a fundamental role in fostering competition and facilitating access to connectivity.
From Infrastructure Leadership to Value Creation
At this year’s edition, we presented the #WholesaleSpain 2026 report, focused on analysing the commercial reality of the Spanish market and exploring new avenues for growth in a sector that has reached a high level of maturity.
The study highlights that the next major challenge is no longer simply to expand infrastructure, but to unlock its full potential to generate greater value.
Closing the gaps that still exist between territories, driving service adoption in rural areas and second homes, and developing new propositions beyond connectivity are among the opportunities identified.
Cross-Sector Convergence Opens Up New Opportunities
The roundtable discussion, moderated by Joaquín Guerrero, Director at Nae, featured Fernando Saldaña from Movistar Prosegur Alarmas; Zigor Diez from MAWDY (Mapfre Group); and Samuel Yáñez from Naturgy.
The event broadened the conversation beyond telecommunications, focusing on the opportunities offered by convergence with sectors such as energy, insurance and security.
A reflection that reinforces the importance of developing new collaboration models and value propositions capable of meeting the needs of increasingly connected customers.
Onivia, a Platform to Drive Growth
For Onivia, this new phase represents an opportunity to continue evolving and strengthen our role as a connectivity solutions and services platform on which our customers can build and grow their businesses.
Our commitment to an open, neutral and flexible model aims to foster competition, drive territorial development and enable new opportunities for operators and other players in the ecosystem.
Building the Future of Connectivity Together
Since its first edition, the #WholesaleSpain Forum has been a space for analysis, reflection and dialogue to contribute to the evolution of the sector.
In this fourth edition, we reaffirm a conviction: the future of telecommunications will be built not only on the infrastructure we have deployed, but also on our ability to collaborate, innovate and generate new opportunities from it.
