National Presence
The scale of the combined urban and rural network gives Onivia a truly national presence, providing consumers in the more remote areas of Spain with greater access to an ultra-fast and reliable broadband network, contributing to the Spain Digital 2025 target (100% of the population with 100 Mbps coverage).
FTTH architecture
Based on FTTH (Fibre To The Home) architecture, following the G-PON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) standard and, in its latest deployments, XGS-PON (10 Gigabit Symmetric PON), allowing it to offer speeds of up to 10Gbps.
Quality standards
Onivia’s network is built to the highest quality standards, using active and passive equipment from recognised Tier 1 suppliers, and is subject to a rigorous acceptance process.
Optical balance
Optical Balance (i.e. the maximum attenuation that can be achieved end-to-end, between the OLT installed at the headend and the customer’s ONT) is designed to ensure optimum signal quality by characterising the network using two reflectometric measurements on each fibre.
Rural network
The rural network is distributed in more than 1,000 municipalities in 48 provinces throughout Spain (we have not yet reached the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla), with an average coverage of close to 70% of the homes in the towns.
Onivia’s network is designed to be future proof, its fibre optic cables are extremely resistant to heat, humidity and extreme weather conditions, allowing homes and businesses to enjoy faster speeds and meet future data demands.
Urban network
Our urban network is located in five of Spain’s largest cities and their metropolitan areas: Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Malaga and Seville.
Our homes are full of devices as we continue to work remotely: multiple laptops, tablets, consoles and mobile phones are often connected to the internet at the same time. With Onivia 100% Fibre Broadband you can connect as many devices in your home as you like without slowing down your connection.
