Onivia at the Murcia Diario Breakfast: Connectivity as an Economic and Social Driver

José Antonio Vázquez Blanco, CEO of Onivia, was the keynote speaker at the 13th edition of the Murcia Diario Breakfast, held in front of more than 50 institutional and business representatives from the Region of Murcia.

During his presentation, titled “Connectivity that drives business: fiber optics as an economic and social engine”, Vázquez reflected on Onivia’s origins and growth as a neutral and independent operator, highlighting its key differentiators: open network, zero initial investment model, and customer-centric approach.

The CEO emphasized that the Region of Murcia enjoys a privileged position in terms of network infrastructure, with 92% fiber coverage and 3.5 networks per user. In this context, Onivia already connects over 490,000 homes across 27 municipalities, collaborating with 15 operators in the region.

He also addressed the ongoing challenges of digitalization, particularly for SMEs and sectors such as industry, logistics, and primary industries. Vázquez shared real examples of applied connectivity, including connected hotels and smart systems in agriculture and supermarkets.

Finally, he stressed the social impact of connectivity and the need to promote responsible technology use, advance digital inclusion, and measure real-world impact.
