Onivia launches Fibra X, the next generation of ultrafast connectivity

Onivia, a neutral and independent wholesale fiber operator, announces the launch of Fibra X, its new wholesale connectivity service based on XGS-PON technology, taking ultrafast connectivity to the next level. With symmetrical speeds of up to 3Gbps, 5Gbps, and 10Gbps, Onivia becomes the first wholesale operator in the country to offer this technology to telecommunications providers and businesses.
This new milestone in the evolution of the Spanish wholesale fiber market will, for the first time, allow operators to deliver premium speeds both in urban and rural areas already covered by Onivia’s network. With Fibra X, telecom service providers can differentiate their offering, build customer loyalty, and tap into new market segments without the need to deploy their own infrastructure.
Based on XGS-PON technology, Fibra X delivers symmetrical speeds of up to 10Gbps, enhanced network stability, and ultra-low latency—even in high-demand scenarios. These features enable seamless experiences in 4K and 8K streaming, cloud gaming, virtual reality, and intensive remote working. Designed for hyperconnected households and business environments, Fibra X ensures top performance with multiple devices simultaneously connected and demanding high bandwidth, making it the optimal solution for advanced residential users as well as SMEs and businesses with critical connectivity needs.
Ultimately, the launch of this service by Onivia democratizes access to next-generation technologies by removing entry barriers—comparable to dedicated lines used by large corporations but now accessible to operators and businesses of any size, without requiring investment in proprietary infrastructure. It also strengthens ONIVIA’s position as the leading alternative network in the Spanish market, combining technological innovation with a neutral wholesale model and strong regional reach.
“The Fibra X service reinforces our commitment to democratizing access to next-generation technologies by removing entry barriers. We are pioneers in offering XGS-PON at a wholesale level in Spain, bringing this technology within reach of all types of environments, including rural areas, so that our operator clients can grow, differentiate, and provide end users with the best possible experience,” said Pedro Fernández, Chief Commercial Officer at Onivia. “ONIVIA makes available to operators and enterprises a next-generation network, ready to support the evolution of their services and to meet new digital demands with reliability, scalability, and neutrality,” he added.
Service ready for 5 million households and businesses (FTTH) across 12 provinces
Currently, Onivia’s new ultrafast wholesale connectivity service, Fibra X, is already available to nearly 5 million households and businesses in 186 municipalities across 12 Spanish provinces (Ávila, Segovia, Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Guadalajara, Toledo, Madrid, Alicante/Alacant, Castellón/Castelló, Valencia/València, and Murcia). The company will gradually extend it to the rest of its network footprint.
Fibra X is fully available for operators and enterprises within Onivia’s commercial portfolio. Its seamless integration into existing platforms and Onivia’s specialized support will facilitate its adoption across the entire wholesale ecosystem.
